Initial Consultation

We always recommend starting with an initial consultation, as it gives you and our dentist the opportunity to get to know one another and determine if our practice is a good fit for your and your family's dental health needs.

New Patient Paperwork

If your initial consultation goes smoothly and you'd like to schedule your first exam and cleaning, our team will assist you with that. Prior to this appointment, we ask that you complete our new patient paperwork, which provides our dentist with basic information like your name, address and phone number, as well as a detailed record of your medical and dental histories. This ensures you receive the highest quality care from our dentist. For your convenience, you can download the forms at the following link and fill them out at your leisure. Otherwise, we ask that you arrive at least 20  minutes early for your appointment to complete your new patient paperwork in our office.

Comprehensive Exam & Cleaning

After reviewing your new patient paperwork, paying close attention to your medical and dental histories, our dentist will perform a comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums and other oral tissues. During this exam, our dentist will look for signs of decay, infection and other problems to evaluate the current state of your oral health. The exam is followed by a professional teeth cleaning to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth and gums.

When your exam and cleaning are complete, our dentist will take x-rays of your mouth to gain a better overall understanding of your current oral health. X-rays will show our dentist deep cavities, bone deterioration and other problems that aren't visible during the phsyical exam. The process takes just a few minutes to complete, and the images are readily available for our dentist to evaluate.

Post-Exam Discussion

At the conclusion of your appointment, our dentist will review any findings with you. If any problems were found, such as tooth decay or gum disease, our dentist will recommend further treatment options to address the issue and restore your oral health. You'll receive a breakdown of the cost for any treatments recommended so you can determine how much your insurance plan will cover and how much you'll be responsible for out of pocket.

If any additional treatments were recommended, our dental staff will help you schedule future appointments at a time that fits best within your schedule. If no further treatments are necessary, we will schedule your next cleaning and exam six months from now. Biannual checkups are recommended to maintain good oral health long-term. If you have any questions about the new patient process or you'd like to schedule your initial consultation, please call our Springfield, Virginia, office at 703-354-8811 today.
